Lucy Hone brings in this Ted Talk three tips for being a resilient person.
She starts the Ted Talk talking about difficulties and frustrations that anyone can go through. And how common it is for people to look happy on social media, but the reality can be quite the opposite.
She also talked about her 12-year-old daughter who was in a car accident with her best friend and passed away. With this situation she applied her doctoral studies to herself and informs the three things that helped her to remain strong while experiencing this mourning.
1st tip: Knowing that suffering is a part of life, everyone goes through bad situations, not just you.
2nd tip: Knowing how to choose what to pay attention to, focus on the things you can change and accept what you can't. Often changing the focus from something bad that happened to something good, helps a lot.
3rd tip: Always ask yourself if what you are doing is helping or harming you. This is very important, because it puts us in front of the driver’s seat and makes us choose the right decisions.
Everything she said was from experience, it was what helped her not to give up from everything. Thinking about today, it’s very important to be a resilient person, not to let things shake you, accept that it happened and move on, especially in this pandemic time.
